John Mugisha holds a PhD in Urban Planning and Management (Housing and Infrastructure) and a master’s degree in real estate from Ardhi University, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. He is a certified valuer and registered member of the Institute of Real Property Valuers in Rwanda (IRPV).
He has over 15 years of professional experience as a consultant, researcher, and lecturer in property valuation, land management, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and urban planning. His professional practice includes consultancy work as a valuer in both Dar es Salaam and Rwanda.
From June 2011 to July 2012, he served as a GIS Specialist at the former National Land Centre (NLC), later the National Land Authority (NLA), contributing to Rwanda’s Land Tenure Regularization Programme (LTRP). Since August 2012, he has been a Lecturer at the University of Rwanda, College of Science and Technology.
He served as Deputy Team Leader of the GIS sub-program under the University of Rwanda-Sweden Programme for Research, Higher Education, and Institutional Advancement (2015-2019).
John Mugisha is the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Institute of Real Property Valuers in Rwanda (IRPV), a role he has held since April 2023. He is also the Chairman of the African Real Estate Society (AfRES) East African Chapter (since September 2023) and a Member of the AfRES Board. Through these leadership roles, he actively contributes to strengthening professional standards, research, and regional collaboration in the real estate and valuation sector across Africa.
As a Lead Valuer, he has successfully executed numerous valuation and advisory assignments on both contractual and request bases.
